Lee Bhagat’s first weeks at Enactor: insights and more

So far it’s been a whirlwind few weeks since joining Enactor and moving from the more sedate world of IT supporting the Lloyd’s of London insurance sector, where I worked for more than 20 years. The retail and hospitality sector is a much faster-moving and exciting place to work.

In my short few weeks, I have had the pleasure of travelling to meet my team in Sri Lanka, spending time in Colombo and a few days in our Galle office. It’s amazing how different these two cities are, with Colombo being a fast-moving, busy city with the contrast of Galle and the quieter streets and sea view. I have managed to squeeze in a few sightseeing days, including a day in Kandy and after two weeks I am almost accustomed to the change in climate from the Hertford office and my home in Goffs Oak.

My career path to Enactor has been a little unconventional, starting my working life as an architectural welder while studying IT, then moving into IT support in the education sector for a few years. After this, I was managing IT in the television and media world; managing the IT setup for Noel Edmonds TV and media companies. This was a great place to work where I got to meet many TV celebrities, including the one and only original Mr. Blobby.

Following this I moved into the London insurance world and had to adjust from a world of TV and casual dress to a world of insurance, pin-striped suits and leather-bound insurance documents carried around the work environment by brokers and underwriters and the strange process of deals still being finalised with the signature of paper files (not very IT friendly).

Outside of work, I have a passion for the outdoors and all motorsports, I am a bit of an adventure junkie with a love for fast cars and bikes. My obsession for the past ten or so years has been ultra running (much to the annoyance of my wife and daughters), and I have spent far too many years and hours dragging myself through ultra-distance races, including completing the Marathon de Sables across the Sahara back in 2018 and The Spine race covering the 268 miles along the Pennine way during the British winter. I have also completed many other events, from 100k up to 200 mile races. I am now retired from these ultra-distance races as I had to have a knee replacement three years ago but still run and bike as often as I can.

I now spend time at a more leisurely pace hiking across Wales and the Lake District, sleeping out on the hills and pretending to be Bear Grylls. I am also a keen DIY’er and am currently two years into a full house renovation which is my third and final time.

I’m eagerly looking forward to channelling that spare energy, along with my years of knowledge and experience, into collaborating with Enactor and some of our incredible retail customers. The prospect of contributing my expertise in this exciting new endeavour is truly invigorating!
