Harrods and Enactor launch Self-Checkout for an elevated shopping experience

Enactor, the leading provider of next-generation store systems, proudly announces the successful implementation of a Self-Checkout (SCO) in the iconic luxury department store Harrods.

This venture marks another successful milestone of the enduring partnership between Enactor and Harrods, with both organisations committed to delivering a seamless and exceptional shopping experience to their customers.

A Shared Commitment to Excellence and Innovation

Mike Carrell, Founder and Managing Director of Enactor, underscores the significance of this collaboration:

Introducing the Harrods Self-Checkout Pilot Programme

The Harrods Self-Checkout Pilot Programme, powered by Enactor’s Next-Generation Point of Sale (POS) software, introduces a more user-friendly and engaging interface aimed at enhancing the customer experience. Enactor’s SCO software is on the same architecture as the Retail and Hospitality POS, a single platform which also includes the Mobile POS. This single platform eradicates expensive hardware by modularising the hardware, enabling seamless integration with the Enactor POS software to drive the UI and peripherals.

Another key benefit of Enactor’s single POS platform is it offers easy transitions between customer Self-Checkout and supervisor Self-Checkout modes, all with the same level of functionality and integration

The Self-Checkout pilot programme debuted on the 11th of October in Harrods’ Chocolate Hall with a single terminal. After receiving positive feedback from customers who completed their transactions seamlessly, Enactor SCO terminals were rapidly deployed throughout Harrods with two more in the Chocolate Hall and one in the Food Hall by the 23rd of October. By the 30th of October, the remaining three SCO terminals were deployed in the Food Hall.

In total, 7 Enactor Self-Checkout terminals have been launched at Harrods by the end of October. The Enactor Self-Checkout system’s performance, look and feel align with the expectations of a next-generation POS experience that a luxury department store retailer needs.
