Established in 1891, El Palacio de Hierro is a hallmark of Mexican luxury, operating as one of the country’s most iconic Department Store Retailers. Known for its upscale offerings and impeccable customer experiences, the Retailer continues to evolve, seamlessly blending heritage with innovation to meet modern customer expectations.
As part of their commitment to delivering excellence, El Palacio de Hierro partnered with Enactor in 2023 to embark on an ambitious Unified Commerce journey. The partnership represents a shared vision to leverage Next-Generation store technology that supports the Retailer’s complex and dynamic operations.
In a short period, El Palacio de Hierro has swiftly transitioned from a pilot programme to deploying Enactor’s solutions in its stores. This agility reflects the Retailer’s remarkable ability to adapt and innovate. By the end of 2024, Enactor’s Next-Generation POS solutions will power 450 Points of Sale across 5 flagship stores, with further plans in 2025 to scale to 3000 POS devices across 11 stores in their retail estate.

Enactor’s Founder and Managing Director, Mike Carrell, recently visited Mexico to meet with Benjamin Hernandez, El Palacio de Hierro’s Director of Innovation and Information Technologies. The visit emphasised a shared commitment to aligning strategies for upcoming Unified Commerce initiatives and building on the successes already achieved.
Innovations that transform retail experiences
El Palacio de Hierro has entirely re-engineered its end-to-end promotions process, supported by Enactor’s Toolkit to create a seamless customer experience. This includes tackling complex Financial Promotions that require rapid, intricate calculations to deliver optimal discounts based on tender types, such as El Palacio credit accounts. The result? A faster, more accurate checkout process that enhances the customer experience.
In addition, Enactor has worked closely with El Palacio de Hierro to integrate its Unified Commerce platform with the Retailer’s Order Management System—a complex yet essential step in unifying inventory and order processes.
The Retailer’s technological agility is further evident in its ability to develop and deploy its own payment gateway in a remarkably short period, ensuring a streamlined and secure payments process across its stores.
