Enactor is proud to support The Alan Turing Programme at King’s College Cambridge.

On the 23rd of June 1912, English mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing was born, and went on to become one of the most highly influential people in the 20th century.

Known as the father of modern computing, Alan Turing’s legacy lies in breaking the Enigma Code at Bletchley Park during the Second World War, along with his legendary test to determine whether artificial intelligence is distinguishable from human intelligence. His extraordinary deeds are widely credited with saving millions of lives and significantly shortening World War II.

Enactor supports the next generation of Turings

In doing our part to ensure future generations continue to create new ideas and technologies that will drive future change, Enactor is proud to support The Alan Turing Programme at King’s College, Cambridge.

The Programme brings together some of the most brilliant and talented research fellows and graduate students from across data and computer science to biotechnology, maths and mathematical biology, as well as the politics of sexuality and gender. It looks ahead to the next big challenges that may come humanity’s way, and supports the next generation of Turings in the innovations and discoveries that could be transformational not only now, but half a century from now.

Enactor funds new Computer Science Teaching post at King’s

As part of the programme, Enactor is delighted to announce its support of a new Enactor College Teaching Officer post in Computer Science at King’s. This will fund a full-time teaching post in Computer Science for five years starting in the 2022/2023 academic year.

The Enactor Alan Turing PhD Studentships

Enactor is also the proud funder of three Enactor Alan Turing PhD Studentships. Now in its 3rd year, the funding enables more talented students from a diverse cohort to access postgraduate-level studies and broaden their horizons.

Inventory management

Inventory management is critical for a retail business as it ensures that there is enough inventory on hand to capture every possible sale while preventing overstocking and shortages. Without a proper track of your inventory, not only will your business’s revenue suffer, but also customer satisfaction becomes at risk.

As we know, customers now interact over a mix of digital and physical channels. Click & collect, curbside pickup and ship-from-store are on the rise. With a proper omnichannel OMS, retailers can get a single platform that supports any customer ordering journey allowing them to provide a seamless customer experience. Also, the OMS should enable customers to order products that are currently out of stock either from another store or online and get these items delivered to their doorsteps or to another store.

For me, receiving the Enactor Alan Turing PhD Studentship meant the
chance to pursue a life-long dream. It provided me with the opportunity to do research on the most fundamental questions in science, seeking to understand the nature of space, time and matter.”

The Enactor Alan Turing PhD Studentship is, to me, a unique and amazing opportunity to continue my studies in Cambridge, and to work on problems I would not get a chance to tackle anywhere else.

Alan Turing is a figure I hold great admiration for. It would be an understatement to call his contributions to the fields of cryptography, biology and especially computer science seminal. It is a much humbling experience then to be granted the opportunity to study in the same college as Turing and being awarded his namesake studentship.

Enactor is delighted to honour Alan Turing’s legacy with its support of the King’s College Alan Turing programme;
supporting innovation, creative thinking and challenging the status quo.
